My Journey with Jennifer Zamora

TeachingCBU Primary FacultyH2H mobile clinic Jan 28, 2017

Hi my name is Jennifer Zamora M.P.A.P., PA-C

I practice at the Children’s Doctor and Health to Hope Mobil Clinics.

I attended USC PA Program and graduated in 2009

1. When did you realize you wanted to pursue the PA profession?

An open-house about being a PA was so eye-opening! I did not want to wait forever to have children, so three years into my marriage I had my first daughter (I had just graduated with my Bachelor of Science). I realized I did not want to be on an MD path anymore after my husband and I traveled with our newborn daughter out-of- state for a medical school interview. After finding out all that a PA can do, I switched over my applications to PA programs and never looked back. I love what I do and I love getting to focus on patient care rather than having to worry about the business of running a practice.

2. What did you find as the most difficult part of applying to PA school?

What was difficult was that each PA program had different requirements instead of it all being uniform.

3. What do you enjoy most about being a PA?

I love the flexibility to work in multiple fields (even at the same time). I love that I am able to balance my time between clinic, teaching in a PA program and family. I also love serving the underserved and even traveling abroad to work in foreign countries with foreign doctors.

4. What is one piece of advice you like to give to aspiring PAs?

I would advise to not give up, but to persevere through all trials in getting to your dream. Find a mentor and surround yourself with positive, supportive people. Make sure your future spouse is also supportive of your dream as well.
